When it comes to driving innovation, Bisi shared that “The best way to stay innovative is to make thinking differently a habit, and to include and embrace diversity of thought on your team. We win when we are in a state of mutual empathy … when everyone feels that they belong."
The event was a true celebration of belonging. Attendees gathered at the Ritz-Carlton in Arlington, VA on May 14 and 15 to highlight women’s achievements, innovation and leadership in the payments industry. The Symposium featured inspiring keynote presentations from leading experts, executive panel discussions, and powerful breakout sessions on everything from payment applications to technology to leadership. Focused on “Payments at the Speed of Change,” the extravaganza also included networking opportunities, an executive headshot booth and a glamorous awards dinner.
Visa has been a proud sponsor of the Women in Payments Symposium for the past four years, and thirteen of our own women – including Bisi – represented the company, loud and proud, at the event. Celeste Schwitters, SVP, Client Support and Implementation and board member of Women in Payments USA and Chris Drury, Vice President, Digital Products and member of the Women in Payments Awards Committee, were on hand to introduce key speakers. Virginia Chappell, Senior Director, Global Product, led a can’t-miss session on “Managing Payments in the Gig Economy,” sharing how advancements in real-time payment disbursement technology can make an incredible impact in critical times of need (think insurance payouts and disaster aid).
“It was inspiring to meet such powerful women who personally invest their time to empower, sponsor and mentor other women,” said Bisi. “I truly appreciate organizations like Women in Payments because they celebrate achievement, performance, innovation, and most importantly, they let all women in payments know that they are included.”
A big congratulations to Bisi, to our inspiring Visa attendees, and to all of the women in payments who continue to drive our industry forward. We’re excited to see what the future holds.
