Attendees of the recent United Nations event supporting sustainability discuss important issues affecting our world today.

Visa is proud to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations in 2015, a “call to action” for global companies, governments and organizations to make significant progress towards a more sustainable world by 2030.

As many convene in New York during UN General Assembly this week, Visa is honored to participate in activities that support our commitment to women’s economic empowerment and sustainable living, including speaking events at the Concordia Summit, Business Fights Poverty and the UN’s Task Force on Digital Financing of the SDGs. Visa is also participating in a number of activities as part of Climate Week and co-hosting a discussion with Ikea, PepsiCo, WWF and others on a recently released study conducted by GlobeScan. The study focused on identifying the key barriers to and drivers of healthy and sustainable living among consumers across 25 countries.

Visa’s recent Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Report documented progress towards the transition to using 100 percent renewable electricity by the end of this year and the goal of helping 500 million unbanked or underserved have access to financial services as part of the World Bank’s Universal Financial Access by 2020 goal.

With increased attention on the role of purpose-driven companies in addressing global challenges, Visa’s purpose lies in our mission – to be the best way to pay and be paid for everyone, everywhere. It’s been a part of our heritage since our founding over 60 years ago. We are proud to lead and partner with organizations around the world who are also committed to achieving the SDGs by 2030, working to achieve a more open, inclusive and secure world for everyone, everywhere.
