At Visa, we know employees are more than their jobs. Our people are moms, dads, brothers, sisters, athletes, artists … you name it! We encourage our employees to bring their whole, unique selves to work every day, and one day each year, we invite their children to do the same.
For the past 25 years, the annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day has been celebrated on the fourth Thursday of April by millions of companies, parents and children across the U.S. and around the world. Visa honors the occasion in a big way – in 2018, we planned events in offices across the globe and welcomed over 2,500 children to learn what life at Visa is really like.
At our Foster City headquarters, we wowed more than 1,100 kids with activities and adventures that showcase what our company and culture is all about. Little ones unleashed their creativity on a mural showcasing our leadership principles that guide the way we work, volunteered with The Crayon Initiative to embrace our spirit of philanthropy, coded up a storm in TechKnowHow coding labs, checked out payments demos and much more.
The fun continued with a FIFA World Cup soccer field, San Francisco Giants trophies, carnival and science games, face painting, bubble performers and kid-approved bites (pizza, hot dogs, ice cream … you get the idea). And the grand finale? Mixing and mingling with Team Visa Athlete and Olympic Gold Medalist skier Mikaela Shiffrin. All in a day’s “work.”
