Find, help, and support small businesses affected by natural disasters¹ and pandemics.
The Visa Back to Business Project platform was originally designed as a resource for consumers to identify all businesses that may be open in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. It was expanded to focus on small business recovery after speaking with a small business owner in Houston, who was desperate to rebuild their business after Hurricane Harvey.
The Back to Business Project is focused on assisting small businesses prepare, recover and grow in the wake of disasters.
How it works
Visa is proud to help support disaster-impacted small businesses from affected areas in their post-disaster recovery.
1. Visa adds new federally declared disaster area to the tool 2. Following a natural disaster, it can be a challenge for small business owners to let customers know they have reopened 3. Visa identifies companies that have successfully processed a Visa transaction in the aftermath of a natural disaster, which may be an indicator that a small business may have reopened 4. Within a day of Visa identifying a transaction, Visa updates the Visa Back to Business Project website with information to help consumers locate small businesses that may be open in the disaster-affected areas 5. Consumers can use this information to help support impacted small businesses
