Customers can pay with confidence knowing Samsung Pay is built with trusted Visa technology. Visa Token Service protects Samsung Pay transactions by replacing sensitive account information with a unique digital identifier.
Set up is simple
Use your existing terminal
Samsung Pay works with virtually any magnetic stripe payment terminal.
Some card reader terminals may require software updates.
Or upgrade to contactless
If you don’t have a terminal, you can get a Near Field Communication (NFC) terminal that also works with Samsung Pay.
You’re set. Start accepting Samsung Pay—a simple way for customers to pay that meets all 2015 EMV security standards.
For the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge + and Note5, Samsung Pay will be automatically installed through a software update. Going forward, compatible phones in supported countries will have Samsung Pay preloaded when purchased.
Samsung Pay works nearly anywhere your customers can swipe their Visa card, including the majority of U.S. retail locations. Currently, Samsung Pay does not work at gas station pumps, but it works at most gas station cashier card readers.
Samsung Pay initially launched in the United States in 2015. Visa and Samsung are working to expand into additional countries.
Customers should tap on the Visa card being used in Samsung Pay and look for the “Digital Account Number” displayed above their transaction history. The four digits shown there are what they should provide to the cashier. The Digital Account Number will always be a different number from their physical card.
A customer payment cancellation made through Samsung Pay works the same way it does when using their physical card. The exact process depends on the policies of their bank or financial institution.
All purchases made through Samsung Pay can be returned according to your store policies. If a customer returns an item paid for through Samsung Pay, they may need to hover their phone over your card reader to complete the return.
