Consumer confidence falls to a six-year low

The percentage of millennials comfortable with going to a restaurant more than doubled from 20% in late April to 45% in mid-summer, then declined to 33% by August—roughly the same amount who were comfortable taking a vacation. One-third of baby boomers were also comfortable going to a restaurant in August—up from 15% in April—while only 22% were comfortable taking a vacation.
