Biography
Dr. Yuzhong Chen joined Visa Research as a Staff Research Scientist IV in June 2021. Prior Joining Visa, he was a Research Scientist/Associate director at 84.51° LLC, a data science company owned by Kroger. He was responsible for the research and development of deep learning based technologies for spatiotemporal sequence modeling and the corresponding applications in retail industry. Before joining 84.51°, he worked as a Data Scientist at Conversant-Epsilon LLC, developing personalized machine learning engine for advertisement recommendation.
Yuzhong received his Ph.D. Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University in 2016 and his M.Phil. in Physics from The George Washington University in 2011. His Ph.D. thesis was on predicting, controlling, and universal structure-dynamics learning for complex networked systems (graphs). He has published over 10 research papers on top tier journals in related fields.
As a member of the Artificial Intelligence team, Yuzhong’s research interests are broadly in deep learning, graph neural networks, spatiotemporal sequence models, generative models, and their various business applications in financial time series analysis and anomaly detection. With the knowledge on theoretical network science and the experience on industrial machine learning applications, Yuzhong aspires to develop solutions to the real-world sequence and graph learning problems and advance AI empowered payment systems.
