Using your Visa Gift card is easy – simply swipe, sign, and go. However, if your purchase amount is greater than the balance on your card, there is some important information you need to know to avoid a transaction decline.

  1. To make a purchase for an amount greater than the balance on your card, you will need to use a second form of payment–credit or debit card, cash or check–to cover the difference.
  2. Before you make your purchase, tell the cashier the amount you would like applied to your Visa Gift card. The balance will then need to be paid with the second payment method.

Verify your remaining card balance by visiting the web site of your card issuer, or by calling their toll–free customer service number.
